Ford Figo refresh rear angle

You may remember, IndianCarsBikes.in was the first to report about the Ford Figo’s mid-life refresh. We also brought you the revised prices of the car. The Ford Figo has changed the fortunes of Ford India after their family hatchback struck a cord with the Indian customer. The Figo has been an resounding success for the car maker and now that the car has been around for some time, it is due for some refresh. What Ford has done this time is throw in some extra features on the Figo instead of an aesthetic makeover. That’s fine by me.

2013 FORD MUSTANG RANGE REVEALED: NEXT-GEN PONY CARS ARE HERE AND AND DON’T THEY LOOK AWESOME?

2013 Ford Shelby GT500

Some criticize the designers at Porsche to be lazy which is why they come up with the same old coupe every time they are asked to sketch a new 911. Why are we so partial when it comes to styling? Here is one classic example – Ford has unveiled the next generation Mustang range which is set to debut at the 2011 Los Angeles International Auto show. The 2013 Ford Mustang hasn’t changed much over the years and we are glad that Ford designers aren’t bothered to change the appearance of the pony cars.

ALL NEW FORD FIESTA AUTOMATIC SEDAN: A BUNCH OF NEW DETAILS EMERGE!

An illustration of the All New Ford Fiesta Sedan in Paprika Red garb

We’ve given you a comprehensive overview of what the all new Ford Fiesta Automatic Sedan is all about including the much acclaimed and abused Powershift six speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. Today, we have with us a bunch of new details about the new Ford Fiesta Automatic that have emerged over the last couple of days, when Ford India “selectively” invited media personnel to sample the latest automatic C-segment sedan in town.

The Ford Fiesta Automatic’s biggest USP is the fact that it ups the ante in the C-segment sedan space by offering a six speed, dual clutch automatic transmission with automatic hill hold and hill descent control. The dual clutch transmission means that shift speeds are more rapid while fuel economy too goes up quite a bit. In fact, the new Fiesta with automatic tranny version has consistently delivered better economy than the manual geared Fiesta and that is quite definitely a novelty that prospective Fiesta Automatic owners can bandy about proudly.

Coming to the new stuff in the Fiesta Automatic, leather gets added to the already sporty yet comfortable set of the Fiesta’s seats. What is a concern however is whether the addition of leather to the Fiesta Automatic would drive prices even higher. That said, Ford India has been quite vocal about how the new Fiesta is a class leader in many aspects and the new features we’re seeing seems to be in line with Ford India’s strategy of positioning the Fiesta as a segment leader.
We’re hearing that the Fiesta Automatic will also get the Paprika Red color as an exclusive color. The older Fiesta Classic looked particularly gorgeous in this color and the arrival of this color into the Fiesta line up should perk things up on the visual front, not that the new Fiesta Sedan isn’t a looker in the first place. Ford will launch the car only in early 2012, and that is something that might have been done as car sales are usually subdued in December, as car buyers usually prefer for the new year to arrive.
Expect to pay around a minimum of INR 70,000 over the top end Titanium petrol variant of the all new Fiesta Sedan for the Fiesta with the dual clutch automatic gearbox. So, an ex-showroom price of over 10 Lakh rupees is what Ford could ask for the Fiesta automatic. First in class technology = premium pricing could be the approach although we’d be pleased if Ford India actually launches the dual clutch automatic gearbox in entry level variants of the Fiesta also. That, would be something!

FORD FOCUS ELECTRIC THAT USES SOLAR ENERGY TO CHARGE BATTERIES

Plug-in Electric, Electric Hybrids is believed to be the future of automobiles by many. But, as is the case with every other new technology, electric cars or even hybrids for that matter aren’t exactly what you would term as practical. Plug-in electric cars need to be recharged via a socket while hybrids burn fossil fuels to charge their batteries. The range has also been an issue with electric cars. The limited range means they need to be charged every now and then whenever the charge runs out. Which means you have to be near a power source before the batteries discharge completely.

FORD INDIA LAUNCHES ‘THE FIESTA EXPERIENCE’ CAMPAIGN

Ford India’s marketing strategy for the new Global Ford Fiesta has been concentrated at getting the customer to experience the brand first hand, right from the beginning. Ford novel idea of a Fiesta Cafe which put the car in front of the general public became a very successful gimmick. Usually unveilings happen behind closed doors in the presence of the media which then relays it to the general public. But, the concept of a Fiesta Cafe allowed the customers to check the car out and experience what ‘Ford’ as a brand had to offer.
