While we have a rash of compact SUVs being unveiled at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo, South Korean automaker Hyundai is planning to take a different approach. Hyundai India will unveil the HND-7 Compact MPV tomorrow, becoming the second automaker after Mahindra & Mahindra to enter, or rather show interest the compact MPV space. Currently, the only compact MPV that will be launched soon is the Mahindra Mini Xylo, which is slated for an April 2012 launch in India.
Hyundai unveiling the HND-7 compact MPV concept tomorrow at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan, the venue of the Auto Expo, hints at the South Korean firm’s ambitions to join the growing tribe of manufacturers betting on utility vehicles with high ground clearance and better road presence as the next engine of growth for the car industry. Other details about the Hyundai HND-7 Compact MPV concept remains sketchy at the moment although tomorrow promises to reveal much more about this exciting concept.
Hyundai Sonata Fluidic Sedan
Hyundai India will also launch the Sonata Fluidic sedan at the Auto Expo, a car that will compete with the likes of the Honda Accord-Volkswagen Passat-Skoda Superb trio. The Sonata Fluidic sedan will be available with a 2.4 Liter gas direct injection petrol engine and will be available both in manual as well automatic transmission guises. The Sonata Fluidic is expected to be priced very competitively to make up for the lack of a diesel engine in its variant line up.
Hyundai Veloster Concept
Hyundai India will also display the Hyundai Veloster and the Elantra/Avante sedan at the Auto Expo, the latter of which could see an Indian launch soon. Expect the full line up of Hyundai’s line up to be present at the Hyundai India pavilion along with a possible inclusion of the Hyundai Eon LPG, whose serial production has already commenced just days ago.
