Hyundai India, just as we reported earlier has unveiled the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Fluidic for the Indian market. This car will be positioned in the E-segment, to challenge the likes of the Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat and Skoda Superb. The Hyundai Sonata Fluidic sedan will be available only with a petrol engine. Notably, the 2.4 liter gas direct injection engine is the first of its kind that Hyundai has launched in India.
Gas direct injection technology involves directly spraying fuel charge into the combustion chamber that will result in lower emissions and higher fuel economy with power and torque also improving. Hyundai claims better fuel economy and lower emissions with this engine technology. This engine has a peak power output of 201 Bhp and a peak torque output of 255 Nm. The engine will be mated to a six speed gearbox, in both manual and automatic variants.
The Hyundai Fluidic Sedan’s pricing has not yet been announced even as the ballpark figure that the rumor mills are suggesting is somewhere between INR 16-17 Lakhs. At that price, the Sonata Fluidic could turn out to be a good seller although it remains to be seen whether the lack of a diesel engine in the Sonata’s portfolio affects sales majorly. Expect official pricing for the Sonata Fluidic to be announced soon.
The Hyundai Sonata Fluidic is loaded to the brim with features such as the projector HID headlamps, luxurious interiors, high level of safety with ABS, ESP and 6 airbags. A reverse guide camera is standard and so is a push button start. Keyless entry, paddle shift and cruise control also makes it into the equation. Hyundai displayed the Veloster, the Hexa Space Concept MPV and the Elantra, details about which we’ll bring you soon.
