Honda has pulled off a big surprise by launching the 150cc Honda CBR150R for the Indian market at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo. This motorcycle is more like a smaller Honda CBR250R will plenty of body panels and parts shared with its bigger engined sibling. The Honda CBR150R’s design too is very similar to the CBR250R and this motorcycle has already made its debut in South East Asian markets some time ago.
The Honda CBR150R features a liquid cooled engine very similar to that of the CBR250R, albeit with a smaller displacement of 149cc. This engine produces a peak power of 19 Bhp while peak torque is rated 17 Nm. The CBR150R uses a six speed gearbox for power and torque transmission to the rear wheel. The Honda CBR150R is much lighter than the CBR250R at 138 Kilograms and this will give the motorcycle reasonable pep for those specifications. The 2012 CBR150R is expected to be priced under INR 1.25 Lakhs.

The other big story emerging from Honda is that of the 2012 Dio now getting the 110cc engine from the Activa-Aviator. This engine is peppier and will make the already-fun-to-ride Dio even more fun. Honda is gunning for big volumes in India and that explains the 110cc Dream Yuga commuter motorcycle’s launch, coming just a day after Hero MotoCorp pulled the wraps of the 110cc Passion X-Pro.
