SUZUKI UNVEILS HAYATE 110CC MOTORCYCLE AND SWISH 125CC SCOOTER AT THE 2012 AUTO EXPO!

Suzuki Motorcycle India has come up with two new products for India in 2012, a 110cc motorcycle named the Hayate and a 125c scooter named the Swish 125. Suzuki has been talking about reducing the pressure on its solitary scooter model, the Access 125, and the Swish 125 seems to be a step in that direction. The Swish 125 will be based on the Access 125 with a 125c engine producing 8.5 Bhp of peak power and will go on sale in March 2012. The price of the Swish will be INR 45,431, ex-showroom Delhi.

The Swish looks much more smarter than the bulbous Access 125 and could be quite a hit with the younger crowd, who might have looked away from the Access 125 due to its staid looks. The Swish 125 also comes with telescopic front forks and this is a major must have for broken tarmac, stuff which is abundant in India.  The 110 motorcycle to be launched by Suzuki in April 2012 later this month is the Hayate 110.
This motorcycle’s specifications have not been divulged except for the facts that it is powered by a 112.8cc four stroke single cylinder carbureted engine. Looks wise, the Hayate 110 looks more like the smaller version of the Suzuki Slingshot 125 and thus boring and uninspiring. The motorcycle will be positioned in the executive commuter segment where looks aren’t the only criteria to succeed and this is where the Hayate might pull one back with solid Suzuki engineering.
Quite disappointingly, Suzuki Motorcycles hasn’t showcased any higher displacement motorcycle. The Inazuma 250, which was speculated to see an auto expo unveil isn’t in the scheme of things anytime too soon as Suzuki feels that the volumes make no sense for it to justify the investment for a 250cc motorcycle. So, it seems like Suzuki’s higher capacity motorcycle plans for the Indian market will take some more time to materialize.
