The Porsche Panamera would beaten fair and square in a beauty contest by its rivals but take it to the race track and you’d be amazed to find the ugly old hector punching every other four-door super saloon car in the guts. No other super sports saloon might stand a chance against this baby, much like Hellboy. He may look horrible but can be equally menacing if you tease him. Right, before we get too carried away let me tell the main bit of the news.
Porsche has launched a new version of the Panamera sports saloon. They call it the Panamera GTS and straightaway you know it is a no nonsense fast and taut sports car. The Panamera GTS debuted this week at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. L.A. is best known for Hollywood and the celeb population. The Panamera is one of the cars most sought by celebrities which does justify Porsche’s move to launch the car in United States of America.
Now, the Panamera GTS packs 430 bhp which comes courtesy of its big 4.8 litre naturally aspirated V8 engine which churns out a massive 520 Nm of torque. The four-wheel drive system makes sure that every bit of the 520 Nm is used to keep the wheels turning while seamless power delivery is possible because of Porsche’s Doppelkupplung or in simple words PDK seven-speed, dual clutch automatic transmission. 0-10 kph is dealt with in 4.5 seconds while top speed is rated at 288 kmph.
Inside, you get all the sporty bits from Porsche catalog including a three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara, Servotronic and variable ratio, sporty aluminium trims, launch control etc. Furthermore, the Sport Chrono Package Plus will buy you various other sporty bits including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and the optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC). The car comes standard with 19-inch rims given the sporty behaviour of the machine.
