Team ICB’s roving eye in the sky, EarthFusion, has managed to snag information from a Ford India dealer about a refreshed version of the Ford Figo due for a launch in the next week or so. Ford India have something up their sleeves for the 7th of November and this could be one of the announcements that could come on the 7th of November. The Ford Figo is currently Ford’s breadwinner, accounting for more than 70% of the automakers monthly sales in India. The hatchback is also exported to various countries across the world from India.
In the refresh, both the petrol and diesel variants of the Ford Figo will get,
* Tilt steering on ZXI and Titanium variants* USB port for the 2 DIN stereo on ZXI and Titanium variants* Alloy wheels on top end Titanium variants
The ZXI version of the Figo, while getting the tilt steering and the USB port will miss out on the seat height adjustment function, which will be deleted from the ZXI versions. These features will be available for roughly around INR 20 thousand extra over the current top end Titanium versions of the Ford Figo petrol and diesel small cars. The price increase on the ZXI version will be quite negligible as the main price increasing bit, the alloy wheels, are not on offer.
The Ford Figo Small Car, in diesel guise, is one of the outstanding value for money hatchbacks in the Indian small car market, as the car is great fun to drive with terrific handling and ride, has an responsive yet frugal 1.4 Liter TDCI diesel engine, is spacious and is built tough. The 1.2 Liter petrol engine though is more of a sedate performer with the low initial cost, space and the fun to drive factor being its major selling points.
