CHEVROLET TAVERA MUV FACELIFT RENDERED!

Chevrolet Tavera MUV facelift render

The Chevrolet Tavera MUV a.k.a the Isuzu Panther in South East Asian countries will be soon relaunched in India as a BS4 compliant model. Even though the Tavera MUV is still available in India, it can be registered only in BS3 cities as the Tavera’s turbo diesel engine is not Bharat Stage 4 emission norms compliant. The Tavera’s facelift will be heavily inspired by the Isuzu Panther MUV, on which the Tavera is based upon. In the facelifted Tavera, General Motors India have made many visual changes that will distinguish the new Tavera from the current model.

The front end gets new headlights which feature a steeped design with a higher amount of flaring. The front bumper is also a new item and so is the grille, which features the Chevrolet bow tie in a split design. While GM India could have given the Tavera the bold Chevrolet family grille by tweaking the front end a bit more, the automaker seems to have chosen a more conservative design keeping with the segment that the Tavera will operate in. The rest of the car remains more or less the existing Tavera although he interiors too might see a spruce up considering that it has been a while before the Tavera has seen a facelift.

The heart of the matter will be a new common rail diesel engine that GM India is sourcing from International Cars Motor Limited, which sells the Rhino MUV under the Sonalika brand. This 2 liter common rail, turbocharged-intercooled diesel engine has been designed by Continental International and will produce a class leading 100 Bhp of peak power and 240 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to a five speed manual gearbox. A real world fuel economy figure of 15-16 Kmpl is said to be the major selling point of this engine.
Meanwhile, here is another render our roving eye in the sky, EarthFusion has come up with. This render, which will not match the final product is an interpretation of how the facelifted Tavera could have been designed for a more upmarket look that will attract more family car buyers looking for a MUV.
