The BMW 1-Series M is the car for you if you think driving is more art than just a gerund. Sadly though, the most affordable tool for you fetish for speed is made in limited numbers by BMW. BMW’s F20 1-Series though, will one day take over from its predecessor. The German automaker will unveil (or was going to unveil) a hot new concept based on the F20 1-Series. Bimmerpost is carrying pictures of the car soon to be unveiled at Frankfurt.
BMW 1-Series performance concept
BMW call it the “BMW Performance Studie 1-Series” and it is based on a standard F20 1-Series with a diesel under the bonnet. The concept however, features some go faster bit which do make it look ever more sportier than the standard hatchback. The front bumper gets extrusions in the right places to give it an aggressive look. The sporty treatment continues to the rear with skirts on the sides as well.

19 inch wheels with shiny accents fill the wheel wells and the most noticeable of the changes is the twin- offset stripe that runs along the length of the car. Of course, all these bits are enough to fool someone to think its a hardcore street racer. But open the hood and the you will find a standard 184 horsepower diesel engine and the 120d badges all over the car scream out the same thing.
The 2.0 litre engine coupled with BMW’s TwinPower Turbo tech propels the car to a top speed of 228 kph while 100 kph comes up in just 7.2 seconds. Whatever might be under the hood, the new hatchback looks the part and we do get an idea as to what the next ‘M’ version of the 1-Series could look like. We will have to wait for a while until folks at BMW’s M-Division work their magic on the new F20 1-Series.
