Honda launched the new Jazz facelift in Delhi today. The new facelift version will be available in three variants; S, Select and X. The sweetest part of the news though is the pricing. The base Honda Jazz S is priced at Rs 5.5 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The top-of-the-line Jazz X on the other hand is priced at Rs 6.06 lakh, while the mid-range Select comes with a price tag of Rs 5.75 lakh.
Honda Jazz
The basic version of the Jazz will not get alloy wheels and fog lamps. Also, the basic version lacks driver seat height adjust and power retract feature for rear view mirrors. Apart from these the base variant lacks a few cosmetic features like rear boot spoiler, ambient illumination and rear parcel tray. What is more important is that even base variant comes loaded with safety features like Dual front Airbags, ABS with Brake assist and EBD.
Interior
The mid-range Select variant of the Jazz gets alloy wheels while the top-end Jazz X packs in all the features along with a list of few more mentioned above. Now the main rival to the Honda Jazz will be the new Maruti Swift which was launched yesterday. If you look closely, the Honda Jazz even in basic guise packs more features than the base Maruti Swift LXi. Thus, the new Jazz seems quite good value for money when comes to features. Now, coming to the technical aspects of the car.
Exterior
The new Honda Jazz gets the same 1.2 litre, four cylinder, petrol engine with PGM-Fi which puts out 90 PS @6200 rpm and 110 Nm @4800 rpm. Honda is known for its ultra-reliable engines and built quality which will play in favour of the car. That said, the maintenance costs for the Honda Jazz also aren’t that high compared to the Maruti Swift. Fuel economy too has been rated at 16.7 kmpl (as per ARAI test results). We expect the new Jazz to be a good seller compared to the dismal sales of the car when it first appeared on the Indian auto-scene.
Convenience
Honda had sort of made their intentions clear when they dropped the price of the Jazz a few months back. This move attracted hoards to Honda showrooms and the Jazz was sold out within days. However, we did not expect Honda to announce such shocking pricing for the new facelifted Jazz. Honda has got it bang-on this time, thus making life difficult for the new Swift petrol. Please stay tuned for a detailed analysis on the new Jazz and what it could mean for the other players in the segment.
