Toyota Kirloskar Motors India pulled off two more product launches yesterday, that of the new 2012 Toyota Fortuner SUV and the flagship 2012 Toyota Landcruiser V8. The Toyota Fortuner, like the Innova gets a mid career makeover and isn’t a full model change. In line with that you get a new front end with new headlamps, grille, bumper design and fog lamps. The car’s interiors also get a mild spruce up to look more nattier while retaining the solid quality that Toyota has always offered.
Automatic headlamps and a 2 DIN touchscreen stereo and entertainment system are the other new features that make it to the Fortuner. The bigger changes however are in the transmission department. Toyota has now unveiled a 2 wheel drive version of the Fortuner, to keep the car more competitively priced while giving the car buyer more choice. Also, the Fortuner two wheel drive will get the option of a four speed automatic transmission.
The Fortuner will continue to be available in all wheel drive mode with the five speed manual gearbox. The 3 liter D-4D turbo diesel engine producing 170 Bhp and 343 Nm remains unchanged. Coming to the pricing, the Fortuner4X2 manual will sell for INR 19.99 Lakhs, the Fortuner 4X2 Automatic for INR 20.69 Lakhs and the Fortuner 4X4 manual for INR 20.99 Lakhs. All prices are that of ex-showroom New Delhi.
