It has just been a year since German car maker Mercedes-Benz and Italian superbike maker Ducati joined forces. To celebrate one year of co-operation between the two top automotive brands, both manufacturers will showcas special edition models at the Bologna Motor Show which is open till December 11th. The anniversary will be marked a Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG and a Ducati Streetfighter 848 painted in yellow. For Mercedes-Benz the custom yellow paint job may be new but if demand for the colour persists the car maker might offer it as an option.
The new colour, inspired from Ducati Streetfighter 848 does add a unique flavour to the SLK 55 AMG. The interior of the car too gets contrasting yellow stitching on the black nappa leather. Even the door sills get a unique yellow illumination. Of course, being a product from Mercedes’ AMG division, the SLK get all the go faster bits from the AMG brochure. Meanwhile, under the hood is a 5.5 litre naturally aspirated V8 that churns out 442 bhp and a massive 540 torques. The engine also features a cylinder shut-off system that reduces fuel consumption.
The Ducati Streetfighter 848 on the other hand uses a revised 848 cc Testastretta engine which produces 132 bhp and 93.5 Nm of torque. The specially tuned traction control makes sure that the power from the engine is utilized properly. Ducati and Mercedes-Benz had signed the agreement of partnership in November of 2010 at the Los Angeles Motor Show. The Ducati Streetfighter 848 also won the “Most Beautiful Bike” award at the 2008 EICMA show. AMG has also been the Official Car Partner of the Ducati MotoGP Team.
