Now, here is a cheerful bit of news to liven-up your Sunday evening. MV Agusta, the famous Italian superbike brand is coming to India. According to folks at Autocar India, the legendary superbike maker is all set to enter the Indian premium bike segment in a couple months. We could see the brand being officially launched in the country at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo which now just a month away. We’ve seen numerous international bike brands entering this lucrative market in recent times. Now, biking enthusiasts have a wide array of products to choose from including the classic cruiser range from Harley Davidson to higher performance superbikes from the stables of Ducati.
Triumph will soon join the bandwagon. The top bosses at MV Agusta see India as an emerging market for high performance bikes. In order to take advantage of the demand for such bikes, Giovanni Castiglioni, CEO MV Agusta and Umberto Uccelli, Commercial Director are committed to begin sales in India soon. MV Agusta’s current line-up consists of two versions of the flagship F4, a couple of F3s and Brutales. The MV Agusta F4 RR is the bike makers latest from the range of F4s.
The new 2012 version uses a 4-cylinder short stroke engine that churns out 201 horsepower @ 13400 rpm. Most of the parts from the cylinder heads to the titanium intake and exhaust valves is new on the 2012 bike. The F4 R on the other hand uses the same engine but in a lower tune producing 195.2 bhp @ 13000 rpm. On the opposite end of the product portfolio is the Brutale RR which boasts a 1078 cc engine which churns out 144 bhp @ 10300 rpm. The naked bike features a chromium molybdenum steel TIG welded trellis frame which is rigid and light. MV Agusta is expected to import the bikes into India as CBUs.
