The Range Rover Evoque has been a huge success for Land Rover. Evoque which is available in both three door and five door guise has struck a cord with the customers mainly because of its gorgeous looks. Land Rover has been overwhelmed with bookings for the Evoque. Even in India, where the car was recently launched, the first batch of Evoques that will arrive ashore have already been booked. That said, Land Rover is still accepting bookings for the Evoque but those customers will have to wait for a while until the next lot gets shipped over.
Land Rover is also planning to cash-on the success of the Evoque by introducing a bigger version of the Evoque. The new Grand Evoque will slot in between the mid-range Evoque and the base Range Rover Sport. In India however, things will be a little different since the Evoque is priced higher given the fact that it’s a CBU (Completely Built Unit). The new Grand Evoque will be 300 mm longer than the current Evoque and is expected to be designed on similar lines. However, will the introduction of the new model affect sales of the Range Rover Sport is a question that will be on everyone’s minds.
There is a fat chance that other models from the Land Rover range could get affected. Since, the aesthetics have played a major role in the success of the model we could see the Grand Evoque eating into the sales of other models in the Land Rover range. Under the hood of the new Grand Evoque is thought to be a 1.8 litre turbocharged petrol engine punching out 170 bhp. A diesel is also believed to make the cut. All said, the Grand Evoque would probably see the light of the day in 2015 with production commencing at the UK factory.
