Just yesterday, we broke the story of the KTM Duke 200′s technical specifications and boy that story is creating ripples across the interweb even as prospective KTM Duke 200 buyers and Indian motorcycle enthusiasts alike salivate at the prospect of how 25 odd Bhp will feel in a 125 kilo package. Today, we have with us images of the KTM Duke 200 shot from every conceivable angle by an alert forumer, giving us an insight on how the Indian version of KTM Duke 200 will look like.
The motorcycle in these pictures reveals a KTM Duke 200 that has a few differences when compared to the international variant, as Indian conditions dictate a few variations in the design. A weird, eyesore of a saree guard, which the Indian motor regulatory authorities mandate for all motorcycle in India, right from the humble 100cc economutersto even the mighty Yamaha R1 super sports machine makes it to the KTM Duke 200.
The Indian version of the Duke 200 also gets a tyre hugger, a-la-Pulsar 135 DTSi to ensure that the Indian monsoons keep the slush from splattering on the faces of fellow motorists. That said, this addition on the Indian KTM Duke 200 doesn’t really gel with the overall “tightness”, if we could call it that, of the KTM Duke 200′s design. These images also reveal that the KTM Duke 200 will see plenty of made-in-India parts.
That the KTM Duke 200 caught on camera is a test bike only lends further credence to this theory. A few of cases in point are the brakes which are made by Bybre, the Indian arm of Brembo, which also supplies disc brakes to the Bajaj Pulsar series of motorcycles. The tyres are from MRF, again an Indian manufacturer whose prices will be much lesser than that of foreign tyre manufacturers like Metzeler, who incidentally is the overseas supplier for export models of the Duke 200.
The steel braided brake lines and master cylinder of the front disc brake are very similar to parts seen on the Bajaj Pulsars. Moving on, the fuel tank cap seems a lift off from the Pulsar 220. The switchgear also look like those from the Bajaj Pulsars and so does the ignition key set. These Indian made parts point to a very high level of localization on the KTM Duke 200, which along with the inherent low cost manufacturing advantage that India has through Bajaj Auto, means that the KTM Duke 200 will be very competitively priced.
Expect a cracker of a price tag from Bajaj Auto. Meanwhile, the following gallery of images are ample proof of how much localization the Duke 200 will feature.
