Audi India has seen enormous growth in recent times. In fact, Audi has seen the fastest growth among the top premium car brands present in India. For the future, Audi plans to venture on an ever aggressive product strategy to maintain the current pace of growth in order to reign supreme in the luxury car segment. Currently, the car maker offers products from the A4 sedan to the Q5 and Q7 SUVs to the ultra luxurious A8 limousine. Audi plans to introduce more products that will slot in between the present range of Audi car and thus offer a wider array of options to prospective Audi customers.
The new aggressive product introduction plans include an entry level sedan in the form of the Audi A3 which is expected to be offered at a base price of around Rs 20 lakh. Although, the new Audi A3 sedan is still in its concept stage, a production ready model is expected to debut at the 2012 Geneva auto show. The A3 could most probably use a frugal diesel engine from the Volkswagen family of turbocharged engines coupled to a slick dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Another engine that is being rumoured is a 1.4 litre TSI turbo-petrol engine with Audi’s cylinder activation technology.
Moving on, the Audi Q3 will be among the other exhibits at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. The new entry-level SUV from Audi has already been spotted in India. The new SUV is expected to generate volumes for the car maker after the Audi Q5 which has been topping the sales charts in the premium SUV segment. Again, the new Q3 will get a diesel powerplant and will be assembled from CKD kits at Audi’s Aurangabad unit. The Audi Q3 will priced a notch above the BMW X1 which started the entry-level SUV race in the Rs 22 lakh-Rs 35 lakh segment.
Before going all out to fight for the top spot in the segment, Audi India will be targeting the second spot and with the kind of products the car maker has lined-up for India the dream could soon become a reality. Indians are known to be cost conscious but there are aficionados who really know their cars and fuel economy isn’t the only thing care about. For people with the fetish for more power, Audi will showcase the hotter version of the A6 sedan at the Delhi Auto Expo. The Audi S6 was launched globally a few weeks back and will be here in India soon.
Now, this is not a car that will get you from point ‘a’ to point ‘b’ by burning the least amount of fuel. This is car with a 4.0 litre V8 under the hood with twin-turbochargers to boost power output to 420 bhp. The dash to 100 kph is dealt with in 4.8 sec. The Audi S6 then is a car that is as discreet as a normal A6 but packs power that will surely satisfy that urge of yours for more power and speed. The car also gets Audi’s new cylinder management system that I mentioned earlier so that you can still save a few drops whenever you are forced to negotiate with city traffic.
All said, Audi could also formally launch the new Audi A4 sedan during the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo. The new car features a visual upgrade keeping with the current design trends at the company. The Audi A4 is among those cars that still need a facelift after the A8 and A6. Finally, for the crowds viewing pleasure the awesome Audi R8 supercar will take centre stage. So, that completes the round-up of what to expect from Audi this Auto Expo. Excited already?
