We’ve given you a comprehensive overview of what the all new Ford Fiesta Automatic Sedan is all about including the much acclaimed and abused Powershift six speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. Today, we have with us a bunch of new details about the new Ford Fiesta Automatic that have emerged over the last couple of days, when Ford India “selectively” invited media personnel to sample the latest automatic C-segment sedan in town.
The Ford Fiesta Automatic’s biggest USP is the fact that it ups the ante in the C-segment sedan space by offering a six speed, dual clutch automatic transmission with automatic hill hold and hill descent control. The dual clutch transmission means that shift speeds are more rapid while fuel economy too goes up quite a bit. In fact, the new Fiesta with automatic tranny version has consistently delivered better economy than the manual geared Fiesta and that is quite definitely a novelty that prospective Fiesta Automatic owners can bandy about proudly.
Coming to the new stuff in the Fiesta Automatic, leather gets added to the already sporty yet comfortable set of the Fiesta’s seats. What is a concern however is whether the addition of leather to the Fiesta Automatic would drive prices even higher. That said, Ford India has been quite vocal about how the new Fiesta is a class leader in many aspects and the new features we’re seeing seems to be in line with Ford India’s strategy of positioning the Fiesta as a segment leader.
We’re hearing that the Fiesta Automatic will also get the Paprika Red color as an exclusive color. The older Fiesta Classic looked particularly gorgeous in this color and the arrival of this color into the Fiesta line up should perk things up on the visual front, not that the new Fiesta Sedan isn’t a looker in the first place. Ford will launch the car only in early 2012, and that is something that might have been done as car sales are usually subdued in December, as car buyers usually prefer for the new year to arrive.
Expect to pay around a minimum of INR 70,000 over the top end Titanium petrol variant of the all new Fiesta Sedan for the Fiesta with the dual clutch automatic gearbox. So, an ex-showroom price of over 10 Lakh rupees is what Ford could ask for the Fiesta automatic. First in class technology = premium pricing could be the approach although we’d be pleased if Ford India actually launches the dual clutch automatic gearbox in entry level variants of the Fiesta also. That, would be something!
