Sebastien Vettel has won the Belgian grand prix at the stunning Spa Francorchamps race track in the pristine Ardenne mountains. Mark Webber finished second while Button managed to grab the final podium place. Sebastien Vettel started the race from pole position alongside Hamilton. Mark Webber had a bad start but he managed to stay clear of the mayhem that unfolded going into the first corner. Both the Ferrari escaped unscathed and so did both Mclarens.
Nico Rosberg was the big gainer amidst all this as he took the lead from Vettel going into the turn 3 chicane. Fernando Alonso started the race from eight on the grid and was quickly up to pace with the proceeding up front. He managed to pass teammate, Massa and was bearing down on the front runners in no time. Button and Schumacher were the only drivers on the grid who started the race on the medium-prime tyres. Schumacher who celebrated his 20th year in Formula 1 did not have a good start to the weekend. He qualified last after crashing out during qualifying after his rear tyre came off. Michael went on to finish in fifth place.
Jenson Button made up the most number of places to get to the podium. Button was behind Alonso in the closing laps of the race but was almost a second quicker than the scarlet car in front of him. Eventually, Button did catch up and passed to grab the final podium place. Lewis Hamilton was going strong in the opening stages but crashed out after bumping into Kobayashi while attempting an overtaking maneuver on the Sauber. Not a race to remember then, for Lewis’ fans. Neither was it a memorable one for team Torro Rosso as both their drivers retired to the pits early on in the race.

Bruno Senna was given the chance to race for Lotus Renault this weekend in place of Heidfeld. Senna had bad start to the race when he locked in the first corner and crashed into Alguersuari resulting into the Torro Rosso driver’s retirement. Senna got driver-through penalty for the causing the accident but went on to complete the race. He finished in 13th place. Perez, Buemi and Ricardo of HRT were the other drivers who failed to finish the race. Adrian Sutil finished 7th ahead of his teammate Paul di Resta who finished 11th after starting from the back of the pack.
Jarno Trulli and Kovalainen finished 14th and 15th while a rare mistake by Rubens Barichello saw him drop down to sixteenth place. That said, with seven races to go in the 2011 championship season, Sebastien Vettel leads the table with 259 points ahead of Mark Webber with 167 points. Fernando Alonso moves up a place after Lewis’ DNF result. Jenson Button too moves up dropping Lewis Hamilton to fifth place followed by Felipe Massa with 74 points. Nico Rosberg leads Schumacher with 42 points on the board while Schumi trails by 8 points. The best of the Force Indias is Adrian Sutil with 24 points back in 12th place. Next up Monza!
