STONER ON POLE AT MOTOGP’S INDIANAPOLIS GRAND PRIX




Casey Stoner grabbed pole position at the Brickyard this weekend. The Australian set the fastest time of 1 min 38.850 sec beating the previous lap record in the process. Ben Spies will start along side Stoner while Jorge Lorenzo will start in third spot behind his team mate. Spies posted a fastest time of 1 min 39.373 while the reigning champion posted a best lap time of 1 min 39.629 sec. Dani Pedrosa was quick but could only manage to beat Dovizioso to take fourth place on the grid.

Andrea Dovizioso, the third Repsol Honda will start from fifth. Another American, Colin Edwards cemented sixth spot for him after setting his best lap time of 1 min 40.098 sec. Marco Simoncelli on the San Carlo Gresini Honda could only manage seventh fastest time ahead of the best of Ducatis of Nicky Hayden also riding in his home grand prix. Valentino Rossi on the other hand would rather try to salvage some points from the race this weekend. Rossi qualified in 14th place and his crash on turn 2 in the opening few minuted of the session only made matters worse.

Alvaro Bautista managed to secure a strong 9th spot for the sole Suzuki on the track ahead of Hector Barbera and Cal Crutchlow completing the top 10. Karel Abraham and Loris Capirossi will be at the tail end of the grid. In Moto2, Marc Marquez secured pole position ahead of Simone Corsi and Andrea Innone on the front row. In the 125 cc class, Nico Terol impressed once again by grabbing pole for the Indianapolis race. Sandro Cortese and Johann Zarco start alongside Terol. Marcel Schrotter qualified 17th for Mahindra Racing while his team mate Danny Webb will start from 21st spot.
