The youngest ever world champion, youngest championship runner-up, youngest driver to lead a race etc. are some of the records under Sebastien Vettel belt and now he could be the youngest ever Formula 1 driver to lend his name to a production car. Infiniti, the Japanese car maker who have roped in Vettel as their official brand ambassador. At the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, Sebastien Vettel will unveil the Infiniti FX50- Vettel Edition. The new Infiniti SUV has been designed in parts, by the reigning world champion.
The car carries Vettel name tags differentiating from the standard FX50. The aesthetic changes to the exterior also include a redesigned front grille and a boot spoiler. A carbon fibre front splitter has been added to the special edition. LED daytime running lights are housed between the splitter and the bumper itself. The roof-rails from the standard car are gone giving the SUV a nice coupe- like roof line. The wing mirrors are also finished in carbon fibre.

With all the carbon fibre and the go-faster bits sticking out of the body, this should be the perfect car for some one like Vettel, you might think. In fact, you are right. Sebastien does drive around in the Infiniti FX50. Now, with the special edition, even fans of the German F1 ace can now experience the car which has a little touch of Sebastien Vettel to it. As far as performance is concerned, Vettel wouldn’t ever lend his name to a car that is anything less that blisteringly fast.
The engine in the Infiniti FX50 has thus been tuned to churn out more power than the standard SUV. The 5.0 litre V8 under the sculpted body puts out 385 horsepower and more torques as well. Even Infiniti term it as a ‘performance concept’, given the power of the beast. Sebastien will be at the Frankfurt motor show for the unveiling of the special edition and we will bring the latest from the here on ICB. So stay tuned!
