Mercedes-Benz will debut its much awaited B-Class hatchback next month at the Frankfurt Motor show. An Italian blog called ‘Joke for blog’ has acquired the very first official image of the next generation B-Class. The new car takes a lot of design cues from from the A-Class concept which was unveiled earlier. The most evident of which are the two defining lines on the sides. The new B-Class has also been designed along the lines of the latest Mercedes- Benz products.
The upright grille with the big three-pointed-star is what catches the eye. Mercedes- Benz is also thinking of introducing premium hatchbacks in India which makes this car a good contender. Given its minivan proportions, the car might offer descent space for the high price it might sell when it comes to India. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class is the other car the the German automaker might bring into India. The focus of most premium car makers these days has been on offering premium cars in the lower segments of the market.

This strategy might pay off to a certain extent depending on what product the car makers offer, in what is a very lucrative Indian market. The new B-Class looks more or less like a baby-R-Class complete with LED daytime running lights, xenon headlamps etc. Last month Mercedes had released pictures of the interior of the B-Class which generated a lot of interest among the people. The interior is based on the interior design of Mercedes-Benz cars of the age.
The B-Class will be based on Mercedes’ MFA platform with front engine-front wheel drive layout. The engines on offer could be a 1.6 litre, 122 bhp and 156 bhp among petrol versions and two diesel engines with 109 bhp and 136 bhp from a four cylinder setup.
