Toyota has launched the 2012 Toyota Camry in the United States of America. The new Camry which packs-in more features than its predecessor and also offers a hybrid in its line-up. The prices for the new Toyota Camry start at $21,995 for the base ‘L’ model. Thus, customers in the US can choose from three powertrains for the seventh generation Toyota Camry which include a four-cylinder, six-cylinder engines and a hybrid as well.
2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid
The 2012 Toyota Camry will be available in six different models: base Camry L, value for money Camry LE, sporty, 4 or 6-cylinder Camry SE and premium XLE trims. The hybrid powertrain will be available in LE and XLE trims. Toyota has offered 2.5 litre, in-line four cylinder engine that puts out 178 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The other more powerful engine on offer is a 3.5 litre V6 with 268 horsepower on tap and 248 torques.
2012 Toyota Camry Daytona 500 Pace car
The Hybrid version of the Toyota Camry has an EV Drive mode which allows the car to operate on an electric motor alone for upto 1.6 miles at lower speeds below 25 mph. The 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE starts at $25,900 and Camry Hybrid XLE starts at $27,400. Inside the car Toyota has incorporated a new dashboard design, modified seat locations, redesigned seats and “lean” door, pillar and headliner trim.
The Camry LE and XLE grades feature either ivory or gray seating color, while the Camry SE features unique upholstery in black-on-black or black-on-gray. Now, Toyota had announced that they will be promoting the car very aggressively. As a part of this new aggressive promotion strategy, the 2012 Toyota Camry will be the pace car for the 2012 Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race coming February. NASCAR racing is very popular in America and Toyota has been a part of it and is a great opportunity for the company to reach as much customers as possible.
