The new B-Class has more space on the inside compared to its predecessor. The new car offers increased room for both passengers and cargo making it more practical than the previous model. The exterior, as we have seen has been influenced from the A-Class concept but if you look at the overall shape and size of the car it looks like squashed R-Class. Particularly, in profile the car bears a stark resemblance to its big brother.

2012 Mercedes Benz B-ClassThe 2011 B-Class comes with new fuel efficient, four-cylinder, petrol as well as diesel engines. The new petrol engines feature Mercedes’ third-generation direct injection system which was introduced first on the BlueDIRECT V6 and V8 engines. The B180 gets a 1.6 litre with 122 bhp and B200 with 156 bhp. As far as diesel options are concerned, the new B-Class gets Mercedes’ third generation common-rail diesel engines. The B180 CDI puts out 109 bhp and the B200 CDI pumps out 136 bhp.

All the above engines power the front wheels but the new engines have been developed to allow a rear-wheel drive configuration as well. Hence, we could see a hotter version of the B-Class with rear wheel drive a few months down the line. B-Class AMG, anyone? That said, the new engine is coupled to 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission which offers the advantages of an automatic with the efficiency of a manual, according to Mercedes-Benz. A 6-speed manual will also be an option. The new B-Class packs new safety features both, designed to keep you on the grey bit and to cushion you from an impact.
