Honda recalls 72,115 City cars for power window switches defect!



Honda Siel Cars India recently announced a recall of 72,115 Honda City Sedans produced between 2005 and 2007 switches to replace defective power windows. This move by Honda India comes as part of a global recall that span across more than 900,000 cars. Honda has announced a recall of 962,000 cars worldwide, with most of them are Honda Fit / Jazz hatchbacks. Honda has recalled more than 72,000 sedans city in India to the faulty power window switches replaced.

    "HSCI is to implement the replacement of parts, as part of a global exercise by Honda Motor Company's stringent quality standards for its products to ensure" the company said in a statement.

While this may not seem like a serious problem, could the faulty side power window switch to fully melt and can cause a fire, according to Honda. There are not any reports of any adverse events due to this until now, the automaker added. As far as India, Honda has only to recall the town sedans sold between 2005 and 2007. Honda Jazz hatcback not sell in India back in 2007 so, the sub-compact car is unlikely to encounter this defect.

    "Although no incident has been reported in India, HSCI has previously sold the same exercise for the Honda City made in 2005 to 2007 for renewal," the company said.

Honda also recalled the CR-V crossover in the rest of the world, but not in India. Yet it can not be confirmed or CR-Vs sold in India are problems with the driver's side window power switch faces. This is not the first time that Honda has recalled the town saloon. Honda had announced a similar recall in India last year to 8,532 units of Honda City made in 2007. That said, Honda states that the third generation of the "new" Honda City is encountering this problem.
