Some more news from the super car world and this time it is from the people who make the world’s fastest production car. Bugatti Veyron is at the end of its life now with the production of the coupe terminated long back. Just 100 examples of the Grand Sport roadsters will be made after which the production of the Veyron will be done and dusted. But, what happens to Bugatti after the Veyron?
Volkswagen bought the rights to brand with one intention in mind, to create the fastest road car on the planet. The company went on to achieve this with the Veyron and then with the Super Sport. Bugatti boss, Wolfgang Durheimer has now prompted that Bugatti might make a replacement car to fill in the void left by the Veyron. The aim is to make the brand known over the world as the makers of the world’s fastest automobiles.
Bugatti Veyron SS
Backed by the might of the Volkswagen Group this could well be possible. The journey though might not be as comfortable as expected since, Bugatti did not make any profit when it launched the Veyron. With the economic slowdown far from over, will Volkwagen be able to sustain with one of its companies in the red? Also, the recession is eating into the pockets of the world’s richest which might even result in the demand to drop. Still, this won’t bother Bugatti much as they are not in this business for volumes.
Meanwhile, the Bugatti Galibier is almost ready for production. Bugatti is still awaiting for a go-ahead from the bosses at VW. The Galibier too will be the world’s fastest production limousine. Thus, the prefix, ‘world’s fastest’ is to stay with Bugatti for years to come or, at least this what Bugatti hopes to achieve. The intentions of the company then are clear. They will be the makers of the fastest cars in the world. The only company that has beat the mighty Bugatti till now is SSC from America.
SSC has previewed the Tuatara which could be the next big kid on the block. The 1350 bhp car might beat the Veyron Super Sport’s 267 mph top speed but if this happens, Bugatti will respond. That’s for sure. 300 mph is what Bugatti might target going further in the quest for speed and some more.
