German automobile giant Volkswagen will be launching a compact and luxurious sports utility vehicle Volkswagen Tiguan. This car is based on the Audi A5 platform and it was first shown in the Frankfurt motor show of 2007. The car will be launched in India around august 2010 and will be competing with cars like Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Endeavour and Honda CR-V.

Volkswagen Tiguan Specification
The Volkswagen Tiguan review shows that the car has a 2.0L, 4-cylinder inline turbo engine and this can deliver power of 200 bhp along with peak torque of 356 Nm. The engine is accompanied with 6-speed manual transmission and car owners also have an auto transmission option. The car has four wheel drive option and all wheel drive option is also available.
The length of the car is 4427mm and its width is 1809mm while its height is 1686mm. The car can seat 5 individuals and has power steering. The car has front as well as rear disk brake system. The kerb weight of the car is 1547 kgs.
Volkswagen Tiguan Mileage
The car is expected to deliver mileage of 11 km/litre in the city while the mileage on the highway is around 14 km/litre.

The cabin of the car is well appointed and has soft touch fabrics or leather seats along with textured and easy to operate controls. The interiors offer excellent head as well as leg room to the occupants. The controls and gauges are all well marked and can be easily used. The climate control system is also simple and can be easily accessed.
Volkswagen Tiguan Safety features
Volkswagen Tiguan comes with several safety features. These include antilock brake system, front and rear side airbags and curtain side airbags, anti skin system and traction control. The body of the car is made of rigid structure and so provides excellent protection. The car has 3-point retractable seat belts along with belt force limiters. The car also has new front seat and head restraints and these reduce the possibility of spine injuries in the event of rear collision. The car has Isofix anchorage for rear seats.
Volkswagen Tiguan Price and design variations
The price of the car is expected to be Rs 21 lakhs to approximately Rs 23 lakhs. The car will be available in two design variations and these include Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4 TC and Tiguan 2.0 CRDi.

The exterior colors in which the car will be available are not known as yet.
